Clovis native top sniper

Clovis High graduate Herman Gomez was a member of a team that placed fourth among 37 teams last month at a national sniper competition in Gastonia, N.C., according to a press release from the Franklin, Tenn., police department, where Gomez is an officer.

A member of Franklin’s SWAT Team, Gomez teamed with Ryan Schuman.

Gomez joined the Marines after high school, according to his mother, Maria Martinez-Trippett, who now lives in Burlington, Wisc. His father is Michael Gomez of Clovis.
