My turn: Facebook makes me hungry

I recently found and was added to a new group on Facebook.

Some former residents put together a group dedicated to old Portales memories.The group quickly grew and now has almost 500 members.

Many of them are past graduates and people who have moved away over the years. Some of them report to have been gone from here for as long as 50 years.

One of the most popular topics in this group, is favorite places to eat. Not only have those favorite places been mentioned in an almost reverent tone, specific meals from there have been discussed. It does not take too much reading to see that there were a few really popular things to get from some places.

It does not sound like we were too concerned with cholesterol, or calorie content, but more with hanging out with friends at a favorite place. I have to admit, some of those discussions have made me hungry. I have been tempted to go looking for those favorite food items that everyone loved so much.

What would it hurt, just one time. Maybe if I ran there and back, I could eat what I want and get exercise, too.
