Floyd's Chenault recognized

Chet Chenault of Floyd, a member of the University of the Southwest baseball team, was one of 73 USW athletes recognized for helping the Hobbs-based school win its second consecutive Red River Athletic Conference GPA award for the 2010-11 school year.

USW’s 160 student-athletes compiled a combined GPA of 3.02 in 2010-11, said dean of athletics Mike Galvan.

“This is rewarding for all of those directly involved with the student-athletes, from the faculty to the coaches and all those associated with academia,” Galvan said.
