Outfielder-third baseman Katie Whitten of Riverside, Calif., and pitcher Alberta Medina of Las Cruces have signed letters of intent to play softball next season at Eastern New Mexico University.
Whitten, a transfer from Midland (Texas) College, helped the Lady Chaps to a 42-17 record last year and a runnerup finish in Region V of the National Junior College Athletic Association. She hit .398 for the season, with 11 doubles, two homers and 32 RBIs.
Medina was a two-time Class 5A first-team all-state selection at Las Cruces High. She tossed four no-hitters over her final two seasons.
