Clovis man drowns in Missouri lake

A 45-year-old Clovis man died Tuesday afternoon at a lake in Missouri.

John W. Matelski slid off a water slide on a dock and fell into the water at the Lake of the Ozarks, according to a report by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Matelski went under the water, briefly resurfaced and then went under the water again. His body was recovered through a dragging operation in the area of the incident, the report said.

Matelski’s body was taken to Hedges Funeral Home in Camden, Mo.

A representative for the funeral home said arrangements are being made to transport Matelski’s body to Clovis for funeral services.
