Police blotter —

Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:

Around 8 p.m. June 18 an officer responded to a residence in the 900 block of Ash Street for a report of a battery.

When the officer arrived he noted a broken beer bottle in the driveway with blood all over the ground nearby.

He found a man sitting in the back yard of the residence and observed that the man appeared to be intoxicated and had a large knot on his forehead.

The man refused to talk to the officer about what happened and refused the assistance of a medical responder.

The officer listed the case as inactive due to lack of cooperation.

About 1 p.m. June 19 an officer responded to a church in the 2000 block of Lore Street for a battery report.

Church members told the officer the bishop had informed a man he was no longer allowed to be at the church and the man got angry and slapped the bishop in the face.

The bishop told the officer the man had been in the process of becoming a church member for a while, but had not been completing the things he was required to do to gain membership.

He told the officer he wanted the man criminally trespassed from the church.

The officer noted the bishop had redness on the side of his face where he said he was slapped.

The officer escorted the man from the church and told him not to come back, noting he would consult the district attorney’s office to see if further legal action was warranted.

Around 1 a.m. June 21 an officer responded to the emergency room at Plains Regional Medical Center for a report of a stabbing.

A woman said she was asleep on the couch of a residence in the 1300 block of Oak Street when she woke because she heard fighting outside.

She said she went outside and saw her boyfriend getting into a car, and when she got in, she saw he was covered in blood. She said she did not know what happened or who else was at the residence.

The man told the officer he was in his house playing video games when someone yelled “come outside!”

When he got outside, he said there was an argument and then everybody was leaving and he felt something on his back and saw blood.

He told the officer there was no fight and he wasn’t hit.

The officer turned the case over to detectives.

Around noon an officer responded to a residence in the 2000 block of Chaparral for a report of a domestic dispute.

A man said his younger daughter told him that her brother was choking his girlfriend and when she tried to make him stop, he choked his sister and pushed her into a wall.

The officer spoke to the son, a juvenile, who told him he was fighting with his girlfriend and pushed his sister when she tried to stop the fight. He said his father then came in and threw a plastic bowl at him, so he threw a coffee mug at him, which his father threw back, busting a hole in the wall.

The boy’s father said he wanted his son and his girlfriend to leave for a while to see if it would help because he was out of control.

The boy and his girlfriend said they could go somewhere else until things calmed down so the officer told them not to come back without a police escort.

After the officer left he was contacted by the boy’s father, who said his son came back into the house to get something.

The officer obtained a warrant to charge the boy with battery on a household member.
