EPCOG executive director named

Sandy Chancey has been named executive director of Eastern Plains Council of Governments.

The decision came by a vote of the EPCOG board of directors during the agency’s annual meeting Wednesday in Tucumcari.

Chancey, who has served as interim director since December, has worked with EPCOG since 2009.

“Sandy has been an asset to the EPCOG in making sure that we continue to move forward in a positive and efficient manner to make sure our member communities have the necessary tools and assistance that is needed to help them in this very difficult economic times,” said Board Chairman Gary Watkins in a press release.

Chancey was also given a $11,500 annual salary increase which will be reviewed in six months.

She replaced Richard Arguello in the position.

In December, Chancey was given a salary increase to $43,500 when appointed interim director.

Arguello was paid $37,500 as part-time director and Nick Brady, who held the position before Arguello, was paid a salary of $75,000 annually.

Prior to working for EPCOG, Chancey served as director of the Clovis Municipal Schools Foundation and as a grant coordinator for the city of Clovis.
