My turn: Keeping score doesn't matter

I had a new experience in playground activities this week. We had our Adopt-A-Cop Olympics with the second graders. One of the games we played was volleyball. I was watching one group, and my buddy Robert let me join in.

The way they played volleyball was pretty simple. When the ball came over the net to you, you make a fist and hit it as hard as you can. The other team does the same thing, so most likely the ball will sail over everyone's head. At that point half of the team ran after it, in a race to see who can get there first.

The race for the ball is a tackle, run and dive event. That is the best part of volleyball. I am not sure how they scored points, or if anyone even made points. It didn't seem to really matter; they were having fun. When I played with them, I had fun.

No one did a big spike over the net, but there was one time when we went after the ball, that I was able to dive after it ahead of everyone else. Someone kicked it at the last minute and I missed.
