Police blotter — May 22

Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:

Around 8 p.m. May 14 an officer responded to a residence in the 100 block of Davis for a report of criminal damage.

A woman said she was in her house and heard a loud noise and when she went outside she found the windshield to her truck had been broken.

She said she saw a group of teens on her block at the time of the incident and told the officer where they lived.

The officer spoke to the teens, who said they did not throw anything at the vehicle.

The officer told the woman the case would be listed as inactive unless suspect information developed.

About 8 a.m. May 15 an officer responded to an undisclosed residence for a report of a domestic dispute.

A man told the officer he and his wife were planning to divorce and they got in an argument.

He said they began pushing each other and she clawed at his face and hit him but his friend intervened and kept him from striking her, then she left.

The officer noted the man had scratches on his face.

The officer spoke with the woman, who said her husband told her to get out of the house when she came home late the night before so she left and left her daughter so she wouldn’t have to wake her.

She said in the morning she returned and they got in an argument and started pushing each other.

She admitted to scratching her husband and punching him because she felt threatened when he pushed her. The officer noted she had a bruise and scratch on her arm.

The officer spoke to the district attorney’s office and was advised they would not go forward with the case.

Around 5 p.m. May 16 an officer responded to a residence in the 700 block of 10th Street for a report of a crash.

A woman said a vehicle attempted to turn into the alley by her residence at a high rate of speed and crashed into her fence. She said in the incident her dog was injured and later died.

The officer noted the vehicle that crashed into the fence was driven by a suspect who had a felony warrant and was being pursued by police at the time of the crash.

The officer noted pursuit was terminated and the suspect was later arrested at Ash Street and Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard.

About 8 p.m. May 17 an officer responded to the area of Aspen and Pinon streets for a report of a vehicle hitting a child.

A teen told the officer he was driving north on Aspen Street when a 3-year-old boy ran out into the road . He said he couldn’t stop and struck the child.

The child’s mother said she had allowed her son to go outside and play with other children while she did laundry.

The child had abrasions on his face and forearms and was treated for his injuries.

The teen received a citation for driving without a license and no proof of insurance.
