Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:
Around 3 a.m. April 22 an officer responded to a residence in the 1300 block of Traver Street for a report of a burglary in progress.
A man said he was sleeping and someone rang his doorbell, so he looked out a window and saw two men on his porch but didn’t recognize so he went back to bed.
He said he then heard a loud noise in his living room and went to check, finding the two men standing in the room.
He said one of the men walked up and punched him in the face and when he fell backwards, they ran out of the house.
The officer noted the man’s nose was bleeding.
Nothing was taken from the house but the officer photographed things that were knocked over.

About 6 a.m. April 23 an officer responded to a business in the 2000 block of 21st Street for a report of shoplifting.
A clerk said a man came into the store and asked for a carton of cigarettes.
She said she placed the carton on the counter and the man grabbed them and ran from the store.
The cigarettes were valued around $54.

Around 7 p.m. April 25 officers responded to the 1000 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard for a report of shots fired.
Residents told the officer they were in their apartment getting ready to eat when they heard three gunshots.
They said they looked outside and saw a man go into an apartment, then leave running with a gun in his hand.
The officers checked near the apartment they indicated and found three spent bullet casings on the ground outside.
Officers identified a suspect through interviews with residents and noted they would seek an arrest warrant.

About 7 p.m. April 25 an officer responded to a residence in the 1000 block of Peacock for a report of battery.
A woman said her granddaughter had been having problems with her teacher at school.
The woman said the teacher was keeping the 8-year-old out of class activities when she would miss class for appointments and would not let her wear a jacket in the classroom.
The woman said she complained to the teacher about the jacket issue then left and after school her granddaughter told her the teacher threw the jacket at her head while she was taking a test.
The officer told the woman he would document the incident with the report and speak to the principal at the school.
