My turn: Catchphrases catching on

I realized this week that most people have a catchphrase, something they say regularly which endears them to their friends even more.

My roommate says “Hello, friend,” and my friend says “epic.” These phrases always make me laugh or smile, brightening my day in a simple way.

A friend made me aware recently that I have my own catch phrase: “True story.” Apparently I say this a lot after pointing out facts or making sarcastic remarks and it has now become a source of expected entertainment for my friends.

True story.

Tonight is barrel racing at the Portales fairgrounds at 5 p.m. and the Duke of the Dutch Oven Chuck Wagon Cook-off is at noon at the Curry County fairgrounds in Clovis for $15.

Saturday night is the Portales MainStreet Spring Wine Festival at the Yam Theatre at 7 p.m. Go check it out for $25 a person. I have been to a Portales wine festival and they are well worth the money spent.

Also, don’t forget my Facebook page, “Who is Eastern New Mexico?” is still online and waiting for response. I want to hear what Curry and Roosevelt county residents are doing, so log on and post.
