Stripes stores raise money for charity

Stripes convenience stores raised $618,429 for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals during its March 7-April 3 fundraising campaign, according to a release from the company.

Stripes has locations in Clovis, Portales, Texico and Muleshoe.

Stripes raised funds by asking customers to purchase a $1 Miracle Balloon icon or donate spare change to raise funds for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. The total beat the company goal of $500,000 and was a 35 percent increase from the 2010 total of $456,000 raised. The campaign ran in all 526 Stripes locations across Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma. Stripes raised close to $1,200 a location.

Clovis’ three locations raised more than $8,252 and Portales’ two locations raised more than $3,000. Stripes locations in Texico ($2,200) and Muleshoe ($1,600) each raised more than the location average.
