Samplings of recent calls to Portales law enforcement, according to police records:

Tuesday:

• While on patrol in the 1700 block of east Third Street about 1:15 a.m., an officer checked the exterior of a church and observed a broken glass door.

The scene was secured, and a church representative was called.

• An officer was sent to the 900 block of South Main about 4:35 p.m. in reference to a report of theft.

A 56-year-old man said his 22-inch rims and low-profile tires were stolen from his backyard. He’d last seen them about 48 hours before.

The man estimated the value of the rims and tires at $1,400.

The officer could find no footprints. The case is inactive due to lack of evidence and suspects.
