Samplings of recent calls to Portales law enforcement, according to police records:

Sunday

• An officer was sent to the 500 block of South Avenue D about 8:25 a.m. in reference to a juvenile runaway.

A 64-year-old woman said when she went to bed about 9 a.m. the night before, her 16-year-old granddaughter said she was going to stay up and watch a movie. The woman said she woke up around 8 a.m. and found the girl missing. She notified the police and the girl’s mother.

The 33-year-old mother said the only person she thought her daughter might be with was her ex-boyfriend. Officers went to the ex-boyfriend’s house, but couldn’t locate him or the girl.

The case remains active.

• About 11:40 a.m., an officer responded to a report of a battery.

A 17-year-old boy said he’d been battered at work in the 1600 block of South Avenue D about 11 p.m. the night before. The officer observed signs of injury around the boy’s right eye.

A 34-year-old man is listed as a suspect.
