Samplings of recent calls to Portales law enforcement, according to police records:

Tuesday

• An officer was sent to a business in the 1600 block of Spruce Street about 4:50 p.m. in reference to a report of shoplifting.

A loss prevention employee told the officer a 13-year-old girl and a 14-year-old girl were caught shoplifting makeup and a bikini razor. The younger girl had taken $25.38 worth of merchandise, and the older girl had taken $27.65 worth of items.

Guardians or parents of both girls were at the store. The girls were booked and released to their parents or guardians.

The officer noted his intent to refer the case to the Juvenile Probation and Parole Office.

• About 8:10 p.m., a dispatcher informed an officer a woman had called to report a stolen license plate. The officer returned the call.

The 18-year-old woman said her 41-year-old father had noticed at 9 or 10 p.m. the day before that the license plate was missing from his white Chevrolet pickup. At the time, he was parked at a business in the 100 block of North Chicago Avenue.

The license plate was entered as stolen into the National Crime Information Center. There were no further leads.
