CCC ponders new leadership

The Clovis Community College board of trustees made no decisions to replace retiring President John Neibling during Wednesday's board meeting.

The board recessed into executive session for about 30 minutes but reconvened saying no actions were taken on the matter.

Neibling announced in February that he would be retiring as of Aug. 1.

The board also reorganized, electing Charles Guthals the new chairperson and Terry Martin the secretary.

In other business, the board:

• approved the spring 2011 graduation list.

The list is made up of 84 associate degree earners and 50 vocational-technical certificates of completions for a total of 134 graduates.

Spring commencement is scheduled for 6 p.m. May 13 at the Clovis Civic Center.

• approved the audit report for fiscal year 2009-2010.

The college earned an unqualified report.

• approved disposal of five items of obsolete equipment.

The equipment is part of a system the college no longer uses. Eastern New Mexico University uses the system and the board decided to donate the equipment to the university.

• heard a report about the college’s United Way of Eastern New Mexico donation drive.

The college raised $10,559.16.
