March 6, 1944: The Portales Daily News: The base commandant of Clovis Army Air Base presented to Rayford Young, 15, and Charles K. Young, 12, of White Star Route of Portales the Distinguished Flying Cross awarded to their father, Staff Sgt. Frank Young, a tail gunner for a B-24, reported missing in action.
