Curry awarded safety grant

Curry County has been awarded $20,000 as an incentive for improving workplace safety, according to a press release.

The award, from the New Mexico Association of Counties, was given to six counties in recognition of reduced workers compensation claims in fiscal year 2009/2010.

Curry County experienced a 46 percent reduction in workers claims and 41 percent in countywide and detention claims, according to the release.
