Police blotter —

Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:

Around 3 p.m. Feb. 2 an officer responded to Plains Regional Medical Center for a report of a man with a gunshot wound.

The man told the officer he was cleaning his .22 caliber handgun and the safety malfunctioned and the gun discharged.

He said the gun had been given to him by his cousin, who said he didn't want it anymore.

Medical staff told the officer X-rays revealed the bullet was lodged in the man's leg, behind his kneecap.

The officer spoke with the cousin who told her he knew noting of the incident.

About noon Feb. 3 an officer responded to an undisclosed residence for a report of an assault with a knife.

A man said he had come to the property because the occupant, his father's tenant, had called to tell him a water main had broken and the apartment was flooding.

He said when he arrived the man pulled a knife on him.

The officer spoke to the tenant, who said he had left multiple phone messages about the water problem and his landlord's son yelled at him for all the calls when he got there.

He said when the other man arrived, he had a knife in his hand because he was using it as a tool in his apartment, but that he never threatened the man with it and walked back inside after he started yelling at him to avoid any trouble.

The officer noted intent to consult the district attorneys office to determine if there should be charges in the incident.

Around 5 p.m. Feb. 4 an officer received a report of a hit and run involving a pedestrian in the area of Prince and Commerce streets.

A man reported seeing a vehicle strike a juvenile male with its right tire and mirror. The man said the boy was picked up by a car and the vehicle that struck him left the area.

A short time later the officer was notified the pedestrian had called to report the crash.

The 17-year-old boy said he was hit when crossing the intersection and that his foot was swelling and he was in a lot of pain.

The boy was transported to the hospital and his father was called.

The officer obtained descriptions on the vehicle and driver involved.

About 10 p.m. Feb. 5 an officer responded to a business in the 4000 block of Mabry Drive for a report of a man exposing himself.

An officer located the described vehicle parked in the parking area and documented that when they arrived, the truck began to pull away, but it stopped when the officer activated his lights.

Following a battery of field sobriety tests, the man was arrested for DWI, prostitution and indecent exposure.
