Curry inmate charged in attack

A 32-year-old Curry County inmate has been charged in connection with an attack Tuesday that left another inmate with a broken nose.

Norman Bonner was arrested for aggravated battery and intimidation of a state’s witness, according to Undersheriff Wesley Waller.

Waller said Daniel Spurlin told investigators Bonner kicked and punched him in the head in an unprovoked attack while the pair was being held in a community cell.

Spurlin was treated for his injuries by medical personnel.

Waller said Bonner resisted a detention officer escorting him back to his cell and a second officer Tazed him, allowing the officer to regain control.
