Clovis woman dies in accident

A Clovis woman died Friday in an accident outside of Canyon, Texas.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Lucy Prieto, 37, was westbound seven miles outside of Canyon on Highway 60 when she was passed by a Honda Prelude and another unknown vehicle.

Police said the Honda clipped the side of Prieto’s car, causing her to roll several times before coming to a stop in a nearby ditch.

She was pronounced dead at the scene. Her son, Chris Prieto, was also injured in the accident. He was taken to Northwest Texas Hospital, where he was in stable condition with a broken leg.
