Police blotter — Jan. 13

Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:

About 4 p.m. Jan. 2 an officer responded to a residence in the 3000 block of Weston Street for a report of criminal damage.

A woman said she saw her boyfriend’s former wife walk up to her car where it was parked in the driveway and put sugar in the gas tank.

The officer noted the cap was missing from the gas tank and there were sugar crystals around the opening.

The woman said the other woman was upset because her husband left her and had threatened to put sugar in her gas tank before.

When the officer spoke to the other woman, he noted she was upset about her husband leaving her though she denied having anything to do with the incident.

The officer noted intent to seek a warrant for injuring or tampering with a motor vehicle.

Around 2 p.m. Jan. 3 an officer took a report of harassment at the police department in the 300 block of Connelly Street.

A woman said a man began harassing her on MySpace and texting her the day he was released from jail for harassing her before.

The next day she returned and showed the officer the messages the man has sent her.

The officer noted in the messages the man kept saying he wanted to see his kids.

The officer advised the woman to get a protective order from the court then spoke with the man’s probation officer, who said when he came to check in he would be arrested and the officer also noted his intent to obtain a warrant for harassment.

About 3 p.m. Jan 3 an officer responded to a business in the 900 block of Llano Estecado Boulevard for a report of embezzlement.

The business owner said an employee had been stealing money by ringing in purchases lower than they actually were and keeping the difference.

She estimated more than $700 had been taken and the employee, when confronted, agreed to pay it back.

The employee admitted to the officer she had been taking money for a little more than a month but didn’t think it was as much as the owner said it was.

The officer noted intent to obtain a warrant for embezzlement.

Around noon Jan. 4 an officer responded to a residence in the 1200 block of Hinkle for a report of battery.

A home healthcare provider for the resident said the 87-year-old man hit him in the face with a broom handle while he was cleaning the bathroom. He said he did not want to press charges.

The resident told the officer he was upset because the worker was not doing a good job of cleaning.

The worker’s supervisor told the officer there had been an ongoing problem with the resident and other healthcare providers in the past.

Dispatch informed the officer there was an outstanding warrant against the resident for aggravated assault from a previous altercation with a healthcare worker and the officer arrested the man and took him to the jail.
