School board positions open

School boards in Curry County have 12 positions open with Tuesday’s filing day for the Feb. 1 elections.

There are three school board openings in each of the county’s four school districts — Clovis, Texico, Grady and Melrose.

Board members serve four-year terms. Tuesday is the filing day, with a deadline of 5 p.m. at the Curry County Courthouse.

The Clovis Municipal Schools Board of Education has three positions up for election — District 3 (Rodney Muffley), District 4 (Mark Lansford) and District 5 (Terry Martin).

At Texico, Districts 1 (Cary Crist), 2 (Tim Foote) and 3 (Jim Pena) are up for election.

Grady and Melrose Schools each have positions 3, 4 and 5 open.

Representatives from Melrose and Grady schools could not be reached for board positions.
