Police blotter — Dec. 12

Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:

Around 8 a.m. Dec. 2 an officer responded to the 100 block of Hull Street for a report of vehicle theft.

A contractor told the officer his company had worked on the building the overpass and left some equipment behind the day before when the job was finished.

He said he arrived to pick up the equipment, but a forklift was missing.

The officer noted there were tracks from the forklift leading about 30 feet away, where they ended. He speculated the equipment had been loaded on a trailer and driven away.

The officer documented the information on the forklift and entered it into the system as stolen.

About 11 p.m. Dec. 4 an officer responded to a residence in the 1000 block of Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard for a report of robbery.

An 18-year-old female said she was in an apartment helping two other teen girls baby-sit when a woman knocked on the door and asked if they knew anyone around that sold “weed.”

She said a male came up and started talking to the woman so she shut the door.

She said she then heard yelling outside in the hallway and when she looked through the peep-hole she said she saw a man in the hall whose face was covered with a mask and was carrying a shotgun.

She said she then heard a gunshot.

She said she ran back in the bedroom with the other girls and the baby, but the man broke into the apartment and found them.

She said he told them not to leave and to keep the baby quiet, then left.

Shortly after, she said the man from the hallway came in and told them it was safe to come out.

Officers found a shotgun shell outside the apartment and a hole in the wall.

Detectives were called to the scene.
