Police blotter — Sept. 26

Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:

Around 5 p.m. Sept. 8 an officer was flagged down by a woman in the area of 12th and Wallace streets.

The woman said someone had just driven by her home and fired a gun towards residences.

Officers spoke with two men who said a man stopped his vehicle and got out, firing one shot from a revolver. They said man then got back in his vehicle and fled.

Officers were unable to find any shell casings or evidence of where the bullet struck.

Detectives were called to take over the investigation.

Around 6 p.m. Sept. 11 an officer was called to the 3000 block of Cheyenne Drive for a report of criminal damage.

A woman said she left her house to go to the store and while driving, heard something hit her car.

When she returned from the store, she said something hit her car again in the same area of the street, this time harder.

She said she got out and spoke to a neighbor who pointed to two boys on top of a roof.

The officer found egg shells, nuts, bolts and sockets lying in the street, there was a dent in the woman’s car and a broken tail light was discovered on a nearby parked car.

The officer made contact with the two boys, who he had seen peeking around the corner of a house as he was arriving. They denied throwing things then admitted they had thrown eggs but nothing else.

The father of one of the boys recognized the items found in the street as coming from his garage.

The officer told the boy’s parents he would be referring the case to juvenile authorities.

Around 1 a.m. Sept. 12 an officer responded to the area of 14th and Edwards for a report of a suspicious parked vehicle.

The officer found a vehicle parked facing the wrong direction and as he got out of his patrol unit, a male got out and started walking then ran away.

The officer chased the male through alleys and lost track of him when he jumped a fence but found him a short distance away hiding behind a dumpster.

The 19-year-old, who the officer noted smelled of alcohol, said he ran because he was on probation.

Once the male was secure in a patrol car, the officer spoke with two other occupants of the vehicle who had waited at the vehicle during the pursuit.

The officer noted they were juveniles, smelled of alcohol and appeared to be under the influence of another substance.

A substance containing suspected methamphetamines and two marijuana pipes were found in the vehicle but the youth said they had only smoked marijuana and drank.

They were released to the custody of their parents and the case was referred to juvenile authorities.

About 7 p.m. Sept. 15 an officer responded to a business in the 3000 block of Prince Street for a report of battery.

A woman said she became concerned when she saw two women arguing in the store and noticed one of the women had bruises on her arms. She said she stepped in and asked the woman if she needed help.

She said the woman said yes, but the other woman told her she was the woman’s caregiver and to mind her own business.

The officer spoke to the caregiver and her supervisor, both of whom explained she was trying to handle a situation with the woman and was handling it appropriately.

The supervisor told the officer the bruising on the woman’s arms was self-inflicted.

The officer concluded there was no evidence of a crime and listed the report as unfounded.
