My Turn: Websites offer fishing tips

Clarence Plank

The ever vigilant and alert outdoor columnist has been searching the Internet looking for websites to help beginners and experienced anglers when it comes to fishing.

I found one site — http://www.flyfishingforbeginners.com — that offers valuable advice for beginners who want to learn how to fly fish and even gives refreshers for expert anglers.

The website lists the types of equipment to use, includes information about tying knots, types of flies and the most important techniques of casting with a fly.

Another site is http://www.hooked-on-flies.com and it offers the same information, but gives advice on how to dress for fly fishing and reading the water.

New Mexico Outdoor Sports Guide lists information about the different types of trout people might catch while fishing. Their website is http://www.nmosg.com — just click on the fly fishing link or browse the listings for other outdoor activities.

Fishing season is year round in New Mexico, so remember I would like to see your prize catches from area lakes, rivers and streams. Please, send us your photos.
