Portales past: Sept. 28, 1955

Portales Daily News: Holt Irby, a 13-year-old Rogers 4-H Club member, was the first-place winner of the commercial "pen of five classification" at the New Mexico State Fair. He won a trip to Kansas City. (contestants exhibited pens of 5 fat calves for judging)
