Police blotter — July 13

Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:

About 9 a.m. July 2, an officer responded to a business in the 900 block of Prince Street for a report of a vehicle crashing into a building.

A woman told the officer she was backing up her vehicle and her foot slipped onto the gas pedal, causing her to crash into a wall.

The officer noted there was a hole in the cinder block wall and moderate damage to the woman’s car.

Around 2 a.m. July 5, officers responded to the 1000 block of Wallace Street for a report of a fight.

An officer noted other officers were talking to a man who appeared to have been battered with blood on the side of his face and another man was standing in a nearby yard watching.

The victim, who was treated on scene, refused transport to the hospital and said he didn’t want to press charges.

The officer made contact with the spectator, who refused to talk with him but when a woman came out of the residence and called the man by his name, the officer recognized him as having an outstanding warrant.

The man was arrested on three outstanding warrants.

Around 3 a.m. July 5, officers attempted to stop a vehicle in the area of Second and Hickory streets.

An officer noted he was following another police unit in pursuit of the vehicle, when the car attempted to turn onto Hickory Street at a high rate of speed and hit the curb.

The officer noted the car went airborne and struck two vehicles parked in front of a residence.

The 19-year-old driver was arrested for DWI and driving on a revoked license.

Around 8 a.m. July 5, an officer responded to the railroad yard at South Main Street for a report of trespassing.

A witness said he saw a male attempting to jump on a train.

The officer located the described male a few blocks away and spoke with him.

The male said he had been in Clovis for three days looking for work and had decided to jump on a train and head to Atlanta.

The officer noted he had to release the male until he could obtain a warrant for trespassing.
