The following are recent cases from Portales Magistrate Court:

Tuesday

• Laura Gomez, 33, pled guilty to aggravated DWI (first). Sentenced to 90 days in jail, with 88 days suspended leaving two days to serve in the Roosevelt County Detention Center; one year supervised probation with DWI compliance officer; must attend ASPEN program, DWI school, DWI screening, 48 hours community service, and pay $221 in fines and fees. Install ignition interlock on all vehicles driven for a period of one year.

• Arturo Holguin, 26, found guilty of battery on a household member (first). Sentenced to 364 days in jail all suspended; two years supervised probation; must attend ASPEN program within 90 days and enter into and successfully complete a batterer’s intervention program approved by CYFD; no contact with victim until half of batterer’s intervention program is complete, and only with written permission from victim. $73 in fines and costs.

• Michael Ramirez, 29, pled guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia. Sentenced to 364 days in jail, with 364 days suspended; one year supervised probation; must attend ASPEN program, and pay $198 in fines and costs. Charge of possession of marijuana under one ounce is dismissed per plea agreement.
