Homecoming theme decided

The Eastern New Mexico University homecoming theme for 2010 will be “Homecoming 2010 — It’s a ‘Thriller.’” This theme includes the students’ winning vote, which was “Zombieland,” as well as music and opportunities for decorating that will be compatible with students, alumni and community members.

As always, at the start of the fall semester leaders plan to meet with everyone who wants to participate in the homecoming festivities and set some parameters for the event.

Homecoming week is set to start Sept. 20, with the game at 2 p.m. on Sept. 25.

Employee and alumni briefs

• Professor of Special Education Michael F. Shaughnessy, Joanne Foster and Dona Mathews have an article appearing in the International Journal of Creativity and Problem Solving.

• A review of Associate Professor of Music Chris Beaty’s new CD is online at http://www.examiner.com/x-47641-Santa-Fe-Jazz-Music-Examiner. Copies of the CD are available in the campus bookstore and a sample track is at http://www.chrisbeaty.com.

• Donald C. Elder III, professor of history, was chosen to serve on the Education Committee of the New Mexico Museum of Space History Commission at its meeting in Alamogordo on April 30.

• Robin A. Wells of the Department of Educational Studies was appointed to the Family, Infant, Toddler Program Studies Advisory Board at Central New Mexico Community College in Albuquerque. Wells is the higher education representative for early childhood special education on this board. An associate’s degree in the Family, Infant, Toddler program at CNM will support professionals who work in natural environments with young children ages birth through 2 years.

• Shaughnessy and Penny de Byl of Breda University in the Netherlands have had a paper appearing in Educational Technology in the May/June issue.
