Business exchanging letters for CD

Area residents can support troops and get an exclusive CD all in one place.

Big Valley Ford Chrysler Dodge Jeep is participating in a nationwide effort to collect a total of 1 million notes thanking troops for their service, said Big Valley sales representative Kurt Conard.

The Zac Brown Band, a country group, is working with Chrysler and Ram dealerships to offer CDs as incentives in the “Letters for Lyrics” program.

Starting now, anyone who brings a thank-you for troops to Big Valley can receive one “Breaking Southern Ground” CD.

“I think the Letters for Lyrics campaign is an excellent way to support our troops overseas,” Conard said. “How amazing it is that a simple thank-you letter can make someone feel appreciated. It’s little things like this that can make our world a much better place.”

Conard said each person is limited to one CD, but any extra letters brought in will still go to troops. He hopes to give away all 79 CDs he expects Big Valley to get.

Although the campaign officially starts May 10, the dealership is set to collect letters and distribute CDs now. There is no deadline.

“It is our patriotic duty to support our troops,” Big Valley co-owner Randy Van Leuven said.
