Mesa Elementary principal retiring

Jan Cox was selected Mesa Elementary School’s first principal in 1991.

Mesa Elementary School Principal Jan Cox is retiring at the end of the 2009-2010 school year after 36 years with the district.

Cox began her career as a sixth-grade teacher at Lockwood Elementary School in 1974 and was later named Lockwood’s principal. In 1991, Cox was selected Mesa Elementary School’s first principal.

“I have been blessed beyond measure and have loved coming to work every day of my career,” Cox said. “It has not been an easy decision because I have always valued being a teacher and a principal.”
