County receives DWI program grant

Curry County has received almost $25,000 more this year in state grants to fund its DWI programs next year.

According to a press release from the county, April 7, the state’s DWI Grant Council awarded Curry County $230,260 for 2011, and an additional $72,000 for the 2010/2011 project year.

The money will be used on DWI prevention campaigns in county schools, radio and billboard campaigns, for treatment of DWI offenders and to pay law enforcement officers overtime for saturation patrols and check points throughout the year, the release said.
