Base holding open house

Cannon Air Force Base will hold its inaugural 27th Special Operations Wing open house 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 17 on the base’s flightline. The event is free, open to the public and will feature 27 SOW and Air Force Special Operations Command personnel, units and assets.

Event parking will be at Doc Stewart Park in Chavez West base housing at the intersection of N.M. Hwy 311 and U.S. Hwy 60. Visitors must pass through security and will be transported via bus to the flightline. Alcohol, glass containers, bicycles, skateboards, coolers, backpacks, large bags and camera bags and chairs will not be allowed on base during the open house.

Static aircraft displays will include the AC-130H Gunship, MC-130W Combat Spear, MC-130H Talon II, CV-22 Osprey, MQ-1 Predator, HH-60 Pave Hawk and more. In addition, visitors can interact with members of AFSOC squadrons, other special operations organizations, including Navy SEALs and recruiters from all branches of service. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.
