Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:

Around midnight Jan. 20 an officer responded to a residence in the 900 block of Axtell for a report of a vehicle on fire.

A woman said her neighbor woke her and told her that her vehicle was on fire.

The neighbor said he went outside to smoke a cigarette and saw the car burning and put out the fire with a hose.

The woman told the officer she had an ongoing dispute with a male who had recently broken out a window on her home.

Officers found a partially burned rag on the hood of the car that smelled of gasoline.

About 4 a.m. Jan. 21 an officer responded to a residence in the 700 block of Dawn Loop for a report of a breaking and entering.

The female resident told the officer she was asleep when she felt her blanket moving away from her leg. She said she woke and saw a tall male standing over her and started screaming and the suspect ran out the door of the residence.

The officer discovered fresh pry marks to the front door of the residence.

Officers transported her to a family member’s house for the night.

Around 3 p.m. Jan. 25 an officer responded to the 2400 block of Ross to assist security officers who were chasing a shoplifter from a store in the 2800 block of Prince Street.

When the officer arrived he hand cuffed the 31-year-old woman who had already been caught by the security officer.

The security officer said the woman had been seen putting two pairs of children’s jeans valued around $44 in her purse. When security told her to stop, she pulled them out, threw them to the ground and started running.

The woman was booked for shoplifting.

About 8 p.m. Jan 25 officers responded to the 500 block of East Seventh Street for a report of an injured male.

Dispatch told officers they had received several calls of a male limping.

Officers found the man in the area of 11th and Main streets.

The 26-year-old told officers he was a resident of a local ministry program and had been stabbed in the leg.

He told officers he was at a friend’s house and the man attacked him with a knife. He said when he kicked at him to defend himself the man stabbed him in the leg.

Officers went to the residence where the man said he was attacked but found no evidence to support his story.

The man was treated at the hospital for non-life threatening injuries to his leg.
