ENMU president’s contract renewed

Eastern New Mexico University President Steven Gamble’s contract was renewed Saturday by the Board of Regents.

Gamble said with the approval of his contract he hopes to continue to improve the university and help students.

“Hopefully, to continue to protect the quality of this institution,” Gamble said. “Help it to grow, and most of all make sure we have good quality people at the institution and provide a good education to our students.”

Gamble will receive his same annual wage — $185,400 — without a raise.

No ENMU employees will be receiving raises.

Board President Pauline Ponce said regents are happy with Gamble and find him to be an exceptional president.

“This was confirmed to us again when the Legislative Senate Council came,” Ponce said. “They were here and when we came in for a dinner during one of those days. The council was very complementary about him, and they are usually not about presidents at universities because of some problems with others.”
