Annual dinner set for Saturday

The annual ENMU Women's Lovers for Learning dinner and silent auction will be held 6-8 p.m. Saturday in the Campus Union Building Sandia Room. Proceeds help fund scholarships.

Tickets are $20 per person in advance, or $25 at the door. Sodexho will cater a “Little Italy” buffet. Music and silent auction items will be available.

Golf scramble being held

The second annual Greyhound Football Golf Scramble is scheduled for Saturday. The four-person teams may tee off at 9 a.m. Entry fees are $65 per person.

School supply drive ongoing

The Graduate Student Association and Non-Traditional Student Education Services are running a school supply drive for local schools. Collection boxes are located in Graduate Program Departments and the Non-Traditional Student Education Services Office.

• Romelia Hurtado de Vivas, associate professor in the College of Education, presented in Las Cruces at the Borderland Early Literacy Education Conference on April 25. The title of her presentation is: “Don’t suppress children’s imagination with ‘early academics’: Let them play!”

• LaChrystal Ricke, assistant professor of communication, recently presented a plenary presentation titled “A new opportunity for civic engagement: The CNN-YouTube presidential candidate debates” at the YouTube and the 2008 Election Cycle Conference hosted by the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
