4-1 Police blotter

Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:

About 6 p.m. March 21 an officer responded to a business in the 3000 block of Prince Street for a report of a domestic dispute.

Witnesses told dispatchers a man chased a woman into the store and shoved her to the ground.

The suspect’s 26-year-old girlfriend said they were arguing about her son and her boyfriend forced her into his vehicle and held her there until she ran after her daughter into the store.

Officers noted she had redness on her neck and redness and bruising on her arm.

The officer arrested the 16-year-old boy and transported him to the juvenile detention center.

About 10 p.m. March 21 officers responded to an undisclosed residence for an incomplete 911 call.

A 13-year-old boy said he had kicked one of his younger brothers while playing and when he tried to explain the reason to his father, the man grabbed him by the neck and slammed him against the wall.

The boy’s mother and grandmother told the same story, adding that they tried to stop the man from choking his son, but he slammed the child into the wall hard enough to knock down a picture.

His father was arrested, charged with child abuse.

About 11 a.m. March 22 an officer responded to a residence in the 400 block of Heaslet Street for a report of criminal sexual contact.

A 22-year-old woman said she was walking to her grandmother’s house and an older man pulled up twice and offered her a ride, which she accepted the second time.

The woman said when they began driving, the man started to grope himself and unzipped his pants. She said he then offered to pay her if she would show him her chest.

She said she told him to stop the car and when he wouldn’t, she got out when he slowed at a stop sign.

Officers located the 70-year-old, who said the woman told him she was struggling financially, so he offered her money in exchange for seeing her chest and she got mad and demanded to be let out.

The man said he knew what he did was stupid, but he was just trying to help her out.

The officer consulted the district attorney’s office and was told it was unclear if a sexual crime had been committed and to release the man and attempt to get a warrant.

About 1 a.m. an officer responded to the 700 block of Comer Drive for a crash report.

The officer found a woman sitting in a pickup truck in the front yard of a residence and damage to nearby parked vehicles.

The officer smelled alcohol on the 23-year-old, so began field sobriety tests, but stopped when the woman was so uncoordinated, he became afraid she would fall and injure herself.

After a breath test returned a reading of .30 — the state minimum is .08 — the woman was arrested.
