Severe weather training set

The National Weather Service is scheduled to conduct a free training for people who want to volunteer to call in severe weather.

The 2 1/2- to three-hour training is set to begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Memorial Building. Instructors are expected to teach attendees to spot severe weather and alert the National Weather Service.

The public is welcome, and attendees are to receive a toll-free number for giving alerts and a card identifying the severe weather of interest.
