Being friends with your boss’ wife is always tricky but in the military it can be even more challenging.

Picture my husband’s boss’ wife holding my hair back while I puke. It doesn’t exactly translate into a great first impression, let alone a good move for his career. But that’s how we met, when I was sick with the flu, two weeks post-partum with baby number five, and my husband deployed to Iraq.
