Responsibility begins with parents

The article in Sunday’s paper headlined “Parenting tools” certainly got my attention as to where my taxes are going. The mere fact that children are having children is pathetic.

Where are the parents of these kids? Do they know or care where their children are or what their children are doing?

Evidently not.

Morals begin at home. Parents’ main responsibility is teaching children about morals. I don’t give culture or wealth (or lack of) an excuse to raise children in an irresponsible manner.

The Teen Parent Program needs to face the fact that 95 percent of the teens (13-17) will never finish school. They will more than likely live on taxpayer-funded programs until the baby reaches 18.

By the time that baby reaches 18, there will likely be another following behind.

How can you possibly teach a child to parent when they themselves lack maturity and responsibility?

Teaching responsibility begins at home. It should not be the Teen Parent Programs responsibility. It’s too late by the time the children reach them.
