Name: Mallory Holguin

Job: Office manager at White Oaks Counseling Center

Background: Holguin was raised and graduated from high school in Portales, later attending Eastern New Mexico University for two years.

Time on job: Two years

What does your job entail? I take care of billing different insurance companies for counseling services, file paperwork, answer the phone and keep up with the different aspects of counseling.

What is a typical day like for you? I usually come in and do a number of things throughout my day, such as checking checks from insurance companies against records, typing up treatment plans, doing mail runs, checking releases of files and making sure they are up to date, and completing the billing at the end of the day.

Why did you choose this job? I have always been interested in helping people and being involved in social work such as this.

What type of training is needed for this job? Everything I learned was on the job. If one really wanted to get a jump start in this field, they would need to taking billing or counseling training courses.

What do you enjoy most about this job? I enjoy seeing different patients come in and being able to talk with them and see how they are doing. There is always something to do. It is never dull around here.
