Price increased for Sunday paper

The price for Sunday editions of the Clovis News Journal and Portales News-Tribune is going up by 25 cents.

Freedom New Mexico, which publishes both papers, is increasing the price from $1 to $1.25 effective Sunday to offset production costs, according to Publisher Ray Sullivan.

Sullivan said the rising cost of utilities, labor and materials such as newsprint, ink and metal printing plates brought on the price hike.

“We had been planning this increase for a couple months largely because of the cost of materials,” he said. “We didn’t want to go up on the daily rate so we went up on Sunday by a quarter.”

Subscription rates will not be impacted by the Sunday price hike.
