Chaparral Extension Club

The Chaparral Extension Club held their annual Christmas Party on Dec. 11 at the fair grounds with 15 members present. Roll call was answered with a Christmas memory or Christmas plans. Sheryl Abdill read “In His Hands” and Dorothy Bean read a Christmas poem.

Thank you letters were read from New Mexico Christian Children’s Home and New Mexico Baptist Children’s Home. Canned goods were collected for the Eastern New Mexico Food Bank.

The room was adorned with Christmas decorations and a lunch of a traditional turkey dinner with all the trimmings.

The next meeting is Jan. 8.

Clovis Quilter’s Club

The Clovis Quilter’s Club Christmas party was held Dec. 8 at Trinity Luthern Church with 22 members attending.

Sheryl Abdill called the meeting to order. Pat Hensley gave the treasurers report.

Amy Armenta had the thimble for the mystery block.

A thank you donation was made to the church.

Show and tell items were shared. June Phillips made 29 Christmas stockings for the Baptist Children’s home.

Old World Santa’s and Jim Shore figurines decorated the tables for the delicious potluck meal.

Elizabeth Lawrence presented the reading of “Christmas of Mr. Toomey.” Amy Armenta installed the new officers President Brenda Harpold and Treasurer Beth Freanks.

Fun was had with the Chinese gift exchange of 12” Christmas blocks. Sheryl won the Charity plus blocks. Joyce Pemberton won the fat quarter drawing. Pat Hensley wont the blocks of the month. Thelma Coffey won the mystery blocks. Dironda Thurlon of Kansas won the opportunity quilt.
