Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:

About 1 a.m. Dec. 5 an officer responded to a business in the 1400 block of Norris Street for a report of shoplifting.

A clerk said she was stocking shelves in the store when she saw a man load a seven-foot-tall Christmas tree into his truck and take off.

The officer took a description of the suspect.

The tree was valued at $22.

About 2 a.m. Dec. 5 an officer was dispatched to the 1000 block of Oak Street for a battery report.

A taxi driver said a woman had hired his taxi to get something to eat and as she was getting out of the vehicle at her home, she was jumped by three women.

He said they threw her into the vehicle, denting the fender, then dragged her to the ground and began kicking her.

The woman told officers she knew the women who attacked her and didn’t want to file any charges.

The officer noted intent to seek a warrant for the suspects for the damage caused to the taxi.

About 5 a.m. Dec. 6 an officer responded to a residence in the 600 block of 12th Street for a burglary report.

A man said he arrived home and found a jacket and gloves on his couch that he didn’t recognize.

He said nothing was missing from the home and there was no sign of forced entry.

The officer, who noted the resident was “severely” intoxicated, removed the items and placed them into evidence.

Around 8 p.m. Dec. 6 an officer responded to a residence in the 100 block of Fireball Drive for a report of criminal damage.

A man said he witnessed four juveniles kicking his holiday decorations.

While the officer was at the residence, another juvenile approached and said he knew the identity of the youth that had damaged the decorations.

The officer spoke to the parent of the suspects, who said he would talk with the resident to resolve the situation.

The man who owned the damaged decorations later called the officer and said he had spoken with the parents of the kids involved in the incident and they were going to apologize.

He said he was not going to press charges.
