Nov. 23, 2008 Club Notes

Friendship Rebekah Lodge

Friendship Rebekah Lodge met Nov. 11 at the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Hall. During the business meeting following the supper the assembly President Leona Eubanks was introduced and presented her program for the year. Eubanks was installed president at the assembly in Las Cruces in September. She lives in Lovington and will visit each Rebekah Lodge during her year. Also introduced and honored were Serena Goar, assembly warden from Tucumcari. Pat Stark from Hobbs is assembly treasurer.

The Rebekahs will be selling raffle tickets for $1 each on a laptop computer to be given at assembly in Lovington in September. They are also collecting donations for the Ronald McDonald House.

The next meeting date is 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the IOOF Hall.

Altrusa

Altrusa Club of Clovis held its monthly evening program meeting on Nov. 10 at Muffley’s Backdoor. The meal was prepared by Mary Weigl with assistance from Leslie McCloud, Sylvia Bean and Kathy Travis. Before the meal was served, there was a short business meeting to discuss the approval of two scholarship applications. Both applications were approved and checks will be sent to the two recipients.

The program was supposed to be a flag presentation in honor of Veterans Day, but the presenter had to cancel at the last minute due to illness so the time was filled with flag trivia and additional time to visit with each other. The next regular meeting of the club will be noon Tuesday at Muffley’s Backdoor.

Fairfield Extension Club

The Fairfield Extension Club met 10 a.m. Nov. 14 at 1700 N. Main.

Sharon Raglond called the meeting to order. She showed a table cloth she was making from a quilt that belonged to a friend’s grandmother.

The club also did a program at the Extension Banquet Thursday. The program was about yo-yos. Several members bought items that will be on display.

The group enjoyed a Thanksgiving lunch of turkey, dressing and all the trimmings. Twelve members and two guests attended.

The next meeting date is 10 a.m. Dec. 12 at the Cheyene Trails Dinning Room. It will be hosted by Betty Grabowski.

Chaparral Extension Club

The Chaparral Extension Club met Nov. 13 at K-Bob’s Steakhouse with 16 members present. The group had a meal and fellowship. Cards were signed for members who have had surgery or are ill.

Money was collected for a donation to the two children’s homes in Portales. Canned goods were collected and taken to the Eastern New Mexico Food Bank.
