Enjoying art not expensive

The economy is bad — we all know that. It shows very few signs of lightening up in the near future, as the events which have wreaked havoc on our lives have not gone away — they have, in fact, gotten worse. That creates circumstances which make it hard to encourage anyone to spend money.

All this being said, we still have an event of outstanding potential coming up, in our local venue, one which was held last year, with reasonable success, and two years before that in Portales — again, with reasonable success.

This holiday kickoff event, scheduled for 6 p.m. Nov. 8 at Drew Merritt’s Underground Embassy, is a by-invitation art auction organized by the Pintores Art League and featuring our work and that of other local artists. The purpose is to raise money for scholarshipping of ENMU and CCC arts students, as well as local arts workshops for community residents.
