Peanut Field Day set for Monday

The Agricultural Science Center of Clovis will have its annual Peanut Field Day on Monday.

Registration will be at Eastern New Mexico University Farm-Portales from 8-8:30 a.m. followed by opening remarks.

A tour led by Paxton Payton, a physiologist for the USDA-ARS cropping systems research lab in Lubbock, will begin at 8:45 a.m. at the ENMU Farm.

A second tour, featuring speakers Russell Nuti, Mark Marsalis, Naveen Puppala, Jamie Ayers and Soum Sanogo will begin at 10 a.m. at Joel Shearer’s farm. The farm is about 12 miles from the first tour, on Cacahuate Road (N.M. 202), 4 miles from the state line in Farwell. Participants will view planting pattern studies, fertility studies, peanut breeding plots, high oleic Valencia-Spanish cross and biofungicide experiments.
