Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:

About 3 a.m. July 27 an officer on patrol in the area of Main and 13th streets observed a vehicle run a stop sign and accelerate at a high rate of speed.

The officer located the vehicle abandoned in an alley between Wallace and Sheldon streets a few minutes later.

The vehicle owner said it was taken without her permission.

About 5 p.m. July 28 an officer responded to the 1000 block of Thornton for a criminal damage report.

A woman said her children were in the kitchen when something broke the window.

She said she caught two male juveniles behind her house with BB guns.

One of the boys told the officer he didn’t do it but he would pay for the damages and the other boy told him to shut up and not to admit anything.

Around 7 a.m. July 29 an officer was dispatched to a residence in the 900 block of Wallace Street for a vehicle burglary.

A man said he heard glass breaking and went outside with his pistol.

He said he found a male inside his vehicle and ordered him to drop the items in his hands and get out of the vehicle.

The man said the suspect got on his knees and kept saying “don’t shoot,” saying it was the “drugs and peer pressure making him do it.”

The man said while he was on the phone with police dispatch, the suspect got up and got into a vehicle parked nearby. The victim said he grabbed the hood of the suspect’s sweatshirt and heard it tear as the suspect drove off.

Officers could not locate the suspect.
