Municipal court closed for training

The Portales Municipal Court will be closed today through Aug. 8 to allow staff to attend training, according to a press release from the court.

Persons with a court appearance scheduled during this time will not be penalized. Court will reopen on Aug. 11 and those who miss a date should check in with clerks that day.

AYP results to be released Friday

The state Public Education Department will release the 2008 Adequate Yearly Progress Reports on Friday, according to a department press release.

The report is a No Child Left Behind yardstick used to measure student’s reading and math skills.

Eight Clovis schools and two Portales schools did not meet academic proficiency last year.
